About Common Pictures

Common Pictures amplifies stories that humanize, inspire and heal our broken world. We aim to spark the moral imagination by understanding the world as it is and pausing to consider how it might be. The impact media projects we create and support affirm social justice, environmental stewardship and the dignity of our shared humanity. They dismiss polarization, motivate audiences with hope, and instigate restorative work.

We focus our resources in three areas

  • Healing of Racial Trauma in America

  • Large-Scale Eco-Restoration

  • Mutual Flourishing in Israel and Palestine

Our Core Values

  • Respect – We accept the inherent dignity of all people and the world we share.

  • Bridge-Building – While we embrace narratives of justice, equity and healing and reject patterns of oppression, we also work to reflect the dignity of both the protagonist and the antagonist so that we can see one another as fully human. We aim to recognize our shared humanity both in front of the camera and behind the camera.

  • Deep Change Over Time – As storytellers, we believe that we have a responsibility to tell the truth in a way that moves audiences (and ourselves) to meaningful action. Because we believe that positive change is possible, we lean into a posture of optimism rather than cynicism.

  • Equity in Storytelling – The stories must reflect true narratives of those they represent, and the project itself must empower under-represented and under-resourced creators.

  • Collective Responsibility – We lean into collaboration. The world is changed by ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

  • Integrity – We commit to excellence for the sake of the stories and the people we serve. Therefore, we hold ourselves to a higher standard – both by what we say and what we choose not to say.
